A few months ago, I had a problem where frost would show up on the back of my freezer and then my fridgerator would get too warm and all of my food would ruin. I figured out that I could unplug the refrigerator and let it defrost, vacuum up all of the water that came out of the bottom of the fridge and plug it back up and use it again for a week or so but this time around, I unplugged it, vacuumed up the water and when I plugged it back up.... nothing except the lights on the inside of the refrigerator. I called someone and they said they thought it might be the run capacitor so I replaced it and it didn't help. Does anybody have any suggestions? I am so broke that I can't afford to hire someone to come out and I can't afford to buy a new fridge so I will take any help I can get. I am thinking that maybe the fan went bad that connects to the Condenser but I'm not sure.

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath the fridge is running.
Is the compressor motor near that fan running.
Are the coils warm ,cold or hot.
Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running.
Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. stopped up? clear? ice in one spot . frost everywhere.

The motor and fan are both not running. I don't see any frost anywhere because it has been unplugged for a couple of days. I am going today to try and replace the motor that connects to that fan so hopefully that will fix part of the problem.

I replaced the overload and the PTCR switch and still nothing. The lights come on but nothing else is coming on. Any suggestions?

Ok so I decided to plug up my fridge after about 3 weeks of it sitting unplugged and guess what?? It started working!!! I have removed the back panel of the freezer and I see that almost immediately frost covers the coils from the bottom all the up to the top with the most frost being at the bottom. I see the heater and I did see it work one time today. It melted the ice right off but now, it's not coming back on to do it again.... I hear the fan blowing and it is plenty cold in the freezer and the fridge section but I am not sure what to do now to keep it from freezing up. I can turn the thermostat to zero and the fan stops blowing so that appears to be working. Any suggestions on what I can do next to try and fix this frosty problem?

Ok so now it is kicking off and on but the heater isn't lighting up anymore. I actually only saw it do it one time. The color of the heater is black but not all the way black. Is that normal? Also, would a bad heater be the problem if the fridge is turning itself on and off?
