We are seeing a similar thing with our refrigerator. It defosts, everything melts and thaws, then night comes and it all refreezes again. It has been cycling between warming up to 60 degrees, then back down to 40 for the refrigerator and 5 for the freezer. This has been going on for about a week.

This seems to happen every summer when it gets hot and humid. But this year, it gets better for a little while, all is back to normal for a few hours, then back to thawing and melting... My husband went out to get some ice. The most perishable items are in the outdoor freezer.

My husband thinks it's the defrost/cooling timer. Not sure how to test that. He was looking for this part, but he has no idea where it is.

The model number: 10653592300 It's a Kenmore.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help!

Be sure the fan motor is turning down through the compressor. If the compressor senses raging then the electrical relay may be defective. The relay mounted on the compressor may be depositing since it has not been gone in a age. I maintain a difficult start on me to check this stuff out but I try to put back the relays with the original parts.

I am not skilled to repair part of the refrigerator that stopped working. I only buy the best brand and let what you have available. If there is damage, I immediately call a technician.
However, with this forum, I would like to have the skills or knowledge about refrigerator repair. Although only slightly. Thank you.
