The refrigerator stays at a constant 37 degrees, but the freezer temp, which is set at 0, never gets below 6 or 7 degrees, and usually is closer to 17 and sometimes as high as 20. Until recently the temps were constantly at 37 and 0, except during the defrost cycle when the freezer temp would rise slightly. The fan is circulating the air through the freezer compartment and everything seems to remain frozen, except for ice cream. The compressor runs almost constantly, but will cycle off sometimes with a temp indication of 6 degrees.

Verify the condensing coils are clean and condensing fan turning. If ok, remove the freezer back panel and check the evaporator coils, they should be covered entirely with a light frost.
