Top loading Whirlpool with no previous problems does not DRAIN or Spin. Timer functions in all cycles until gets to drain and spin. Checked lid lever is intact, lid switch moves and checked by manuelly depressing no results. Removed clothes and tryed to have washer drain with no results. Remove most of the water and tryed to have it drain and spin no results. Any way to check for other issues or confirm function. Thank you.

You are right to suspect the lid switich, but you cannot give it a good test by simply depressing the switch, as it could have an internal break which would not be detected.

To fully test the lid switch you are going to need to disconnect the power, undo the two screws that hold the console down, flip it up and back and then disconnect the plastic connector that goes into the cabinet. On the part of the connector that comes from the console you will want to insert a short u shaped piece of insulated solid wire into the outer two terminals. This will by pass the lid switch. You can then plug in the machine, set the timer on spin and engage the machine. If it spins your lid switch is bad and will need to be replaced.

Let us know the results, and if you find it is not the switch we will go on to the next suspect in the lineup.

Ignore that, I am afraid someone has crashed the site.

Sir, I did the lid switch function test per your instruction. By using the jumper wire the washer will now drain and spin. So I believe that the lid switch will be neccessary. Am I correct?

Correct, and congratulations on finding the problem.

Here is your replacement part.

You can remove the cabinet by popping out the brass looking clips at each side of the top of the cabinet with a flat blade screw driver, then pulling the cabinet up and towards you. This will give you access to the switch.

Good luck
