Hi, our Kenmore dishwasher (Precision Wash QuietGuard Standard) started to get very noisy when running a few months ago. It's like a grinding sound from the motor lacking lubricant or something. Is it a very common problem for dishwasher of this brand or model? The dishwasher is only a little over two years old. Any hint? I have never tried to dissemble a dishwasher before. Considering the numerous, complex parts, it's a pretty daunting task for me. Your help is deeply appreciated!

After six months' noisy washing, this dishwasher finally stopped working, that is, no water spray. The noise is gone with it. Draining and heating seem to be still fine. Is the motor dead? What part to order? Do you have a detailed DIY instruction? Thanks!

Hey Chris, have you found an answer to your problem? I'm in the same spot - water fills, but the arms won't spin and the water is not being pumped. Draining and heating works fine. It also was noisy for quite some time.
Did you replace the motor? The whole thing, or just cleaned it up?

Here's a breakdown of your sump area.......you'll need a t15-t20 bit tips and maybe a phillips screwdriver bit attachment to break it down........make sure all parts are dismantled and check the drain pump and sump area's..........disconnect your drain pump hose coming out and inspect it for debris also...........good luck...... http://c.***************.../PLDM/R0908054-00004.png Oops my bad there's no schematic for your unit on this site but sears parts website has it and you'll have to go to there site to look at one.........

I took out everything I could remove on the inside. I manually turned the little turbine that swirls water and moves it through the spray arms - it clicked a bit, stopped clicking, and after turning power on, the engine did move. I put it all back together, and it worked for 5 minutes before stopping again.
Before I remove the brackets underneath the dishwasher and take the whole thing out, I want to make sure I did everything else, I just heard the big seal around the sump area is a pain in the rear end to put back in, and it tends to tear, so I'm trying to do it last.
My question is - when I remove all the parts on the inside, I see that little wheel, and to the right of the wheel is a little cone shaped hole, that (I think) houses the axis the wheel spins on (it was filled with hair and gunk) - is the water entering anywhere into that little system? Is there anything else I can flush/clean on the inside? Or is the motor / pump sealed, and water does not get any deeper then what you can see?

Your unit has a really low grade side mounted sump and they make noise....when i run into these i usually put a block of wood under it so it doesn't sag and make excessive noise.......Don't take the sump out at all if you got to the bottom of the sump and saw the white circular blades on the left you got to the bottom just make sure those aren't blocked and check to make sure the drain pump isn't blocked either............just externally inspect everything and take voltage readings at bottom components to make sure the main control is sending the right amount of electricity to parts......should be 120v at sump and 120v at drain pump if it's separate......if you don't have 120v to the sump motor or the drain motor check your main control in keypad area it might be bad if there isn't 120v coming out of it to the motors below.......
