I would recommend to keep the diffuser open with a toothpick and watch the temperatures for a few days. Normal temperatures should be: about 0°F in the freezer and 36°F-39°F in the refrigerator. If it will work good, replace the diffuser.

Gene - I meant to write back after I got my fridge fixed. It was the diffuser and it is working great now. I opened up the old diffuser and could see the problem. The thin plastic piece that rotates back and forth to open and close the fins broke because the whole unit was glued about 1/8" off and finally the constant pushing was too much for that flimsy piece. I am so glad I didn't listen to the appliance repair guy who said I needed a new refrigerator. Our ice maker recently went out too and I was able to get a cheap one that makes ice like crazy! It's empowering to be able to fix those things myself.

Hello Gene, I have a kitchenaid model #KSRC25FVMSOO. Problem is the refrigerator section is warm and the freezer section is ok. The icemaker stopped producing ice about the same time. My next door neighbor is a HVAC contractor and he showed me how to replace the main board as he said the defrost timer was on that board and it was probably bad. I replaced the main board in the refrigerator section as well as the defrost thermostat in the freezer section. everything was ok for a couple weeks and now the same problem is back. There is little or no air coming from the refrigerator air inlet.
Temp in. freezer is 0 degrees and refrigerator temp is 55 degreesI have checked the following:

1. coils seem to have slight frost on them before the defrost cycle. Heater show continuity.
2.Condenser fan is running.
3. Air diffuser is open.
Is it possible the condenser fan is running but failing to run at specified RPM's?
Thanks in advance.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Happy New year!

Gene, Rick here. Finally fixed my Maytag bottom freezer/fridge combo. The unit was not defrosting at all, drain all clear. The evaporator coils would be frozen all the way up, solid. Defrost thermostat entombed in ice plugging up all air flow into our out of the evaporator area. Air flow up to the fridge on the sides were iced over solid. I would defrost it manually with a heat gun set on low heat and it would work fine until about a month, then have to do it all over again. I first replaced the blend door in the fridge, then installed a new defrost element and defrost thermostat at the same time. All purchased from you guys. I now know it wasn't defrosting, just didn't know why. Studied the wiring diagram and seen no manual timer. Only part left was the motherboard (defrost is done by solid state controller). Installed it and did the program installing the mfg code of "01" and the refrigerator and freezer has been working flawless for 3 months and no ice build up in the freezer section at all, fridge is nice and cold, freezer is nice and cold. It is fixed, was the controller or "motherboard". I just started at the wrong end and it was the last part I replaced. I will hold onto my spare known good used defroster element, defrost thermostat and blend door.

Thanks for your guys help too.
Rick

I have a black and decker 2 door mini fridge. There is no vent between freezer and fridge. It feels like and im guessing. The coils are pressed against the back wall. No way to open it and the only hole is the sweat discharge hole for condensation on the mid bottom. The freezer has no problems at all. But the fridge is 65 degrees. I keep it in my garage summer througj winter and it turned on after the weather stops gping below freezing each spring/summer and is turned back off before tje weather goes below freezing again about mid fall. I tried peeling off the back plate but saw that it was juat filled with spray in foam and thats that. I pulled the over load off and the disk is fine. I pulled the starter off and it seems fine as well. Im not 100% on the starter but i have continuity. The compressor doesnt always kick on after being plugged in. (IE : plug it in it works but freezer only gets cold. Unplug it [check it out] plig it bacl in. Compressor doesnt kick on. Wait 10 to 15 minutes plug it back in and it kicks on again. Rinse and repeat). Any clues here? Im getting frustrated with it. Thanks everyone

Sorry to say it but this refrigerator is not serviceable by design. Very likely there are no replacement parts available on the market.

The price for such brand new refrigerator is less than $200 and it's not worth any repair.

Any clue as to the issue? a plausable explanation would certainly ease my mind. I just bypassed the thermostat and left it running for 2 hours. No dice thanks for tje reply on this old post!

Model fgun2642lf1

Replaced the evaporator motor and fan last month ( thanks to your help) and that fixed our problem of freezer not working. Now the refrigerator is not cooling (57) but the freezer is at 0
