So we've owned this Whirlpool gold range since purchasing it new about 5 years ago. Recently only the outer coils on the front right dual zone burner function. The outer coil will cycle on and off depending on the dialed in low/high setting.

I was wondering if this sounded like a switch or burner issue in your expert opinions. I'm a handy guy and have already had the top off of the range. The were no obvious shorts or burned wires / connections.

Many Thanks in advance.

If you mean element cause i'm unaware of coils being on a stove.....ohm test your element make sure it's a complete circuit and touch one lead to the outer edge and another on the connector see if it's broken somewhere. If it doesn't i'd suspect the element switch if it's a larger element that's a common thing for infinity switches going out........check to make sure you got 240v going to the terminal block where the element plugs in. make sure you get the right switch there's a switch for the 6" elements and a different one for the 8" element in most cases the larger elements are generally an infinity switch which most the time has a red dot somewhere on it.
