All evidence points to a bad adaptive defrost board, just try a new one.

Well, new defrost board and thermostat. Still cycles every 10 minutes. Have any other suggestions? It's getting expensive buying parts that don't fix the problem.

Next time it shuts off, check the compressor in the back, maybe it's shutting down on it's temperature overload.

It is very warm while it is running. Can't keep my hand on it very long at all. Also warm when it kicks off. Appears that someone has worked on the compressor previously as there is no cover on the case on the side of the compressor.

The condenser coils are clean.

I also noticed that after the fridge had been unplugged that the unit ran for some time, about 25 mins and did just fine. After it shut off, 12 mins off, 12 mins on.

Seems like your compressor is overheating; maybe from a slow condensing fan. Put a portable fan on it and see if it now is ok.

Put a fan on it. Put the fan in the front first. No change. Put it on the back right on the compressor with the back panel off. No change. On at 1:13, off 1:22, on 1:33, off 1:42, on 1:53, off 2:05.....etc. Same ol stuff.

I assume or suspect the the compressor will be hotter if the back panel is not on it and can not draw air properly through the front. It was off for replacing water lines. When I removed it to place the fan on it, compressor was not hot at all.

Next idea?
