Hello. We had a power outage a few days back - the dishwasher was not running at the time, but after the power came back on, many of the keys on the keypad would not work. The dishwasher still ran, and in fact, I used it that same night. The following day, I cut power to the dishwasher at my home circuit breaker for a few hours to see if that would help, but after restoring power to the dishwasher, none of the keys worked. I cut the power again and took a look in, and the keypad and control module look okay, but the thin ribbon connecting the two looks dirty. I cleaned it, then restored power again, and I'm back to where I was that first night (the dishwasher runs, I can use the "heated dry" button, but none of the other buttons work). Should I replace the control panel, the key pad, both, or is it something else entirely?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Anytime your dealing with a lightning storm or power outages you never know what extent of damage it's done even if you can't see, test or smell the damage. After completely examining and testing the harness and motor components and everything checks out ok in most cases its usually either the keypad or main control both are around 150 each. An easy trick to test keypads but not always useful on all units is disconnect the power or flip breaker, unplug the ribbon from the keypad to the main board then restore power and if the drain pump comes on within the first couple minutes you know the keypad is bad. Some units though work together just because you have button issues it may not have anything to do with the touchpad at all but a burned out section of the main control. Overall expect to be paying around $300 dollars in parts alone.......After a process of elimination after testing order one part and maybe you'll get lucky and it will fix it if not you'll have to order the other part.
