My washing machine was working fine and now it will agitate but it will not spin the water out.you can hear the washer come on when it reaches the spin cycle but the motor does not spin.the belt is fine and you can turn the pulleys on the motor and drum by hand. Does anyone know what might be the problem thanks

Take the front panel off the washer. After agitation, does it drain ok? After it drains, does the motor come on for spin at all? Does the motor just hum or is it totally quiet?
