How do I reattach retainer spring to water seal boot?

My Whirlpool Duet washing machine is leaking all over the floor. A flexible metal ring has become detached from the rubber seal on the door. I think it is called the retainer spring. How do I reattach it to the rubber seal? Where could I find a diagram showing me how to do so?
Thanks for any suggestions.

You will need a friend to help. While one of you holds the boot, try to get the wire spring around it and into the groove. Unfortunately this is easier said then done, so you will need plenty of patience, a few cuss words and some luck.

I don't have anybody to help. How does a service tech do it without help. Is there a secret trick to doing it. I've gone into contortions trying to hold and work the ring on. Got my hands cut too. HELP! Need to use my washer.

The service techs I know do it in pairs. I wish I could offer advice other than just to keep trying, but that's about all I can say. This is not your fault, it's Whirlpool's.
