dryer starts when start button is pushed but stops when button is released i replaced another dryer with this one and had to change power cords.

Could not find the parts on this site but they probably do sell them. Here is a tech sheet / wiring diagram https://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%203979705.pdfWhen you say you had to replace the power cord, what exactly did you do? 3 wire to 4 wire? What was connected where? The motor relay (lower left corner of wiring diagram) should close to keep the motor going once the push to start switch is released. Could be: 1. Relay coil is open so it does not close. 2. Relay's contacts are shot. 3. Control board is sending power to the relay. |

the replacement dryer used a 4 wire power cord. i changed it to a 3 wire plug that i had been using with my old dryer

Did you install a ground strap from Neutral (white) to the machine's frame. This is required when going from 4 to 3 wire. Do not know if this will fix your problem but there are a couple devices that are attached to the frame (earth ground).
Also the unit is unsafe without it (frame/case can go live). |
