My frigidaire ice maker will not dispense ice cubes. The motor turns the auger clockwise, pulling the ice cubes towards the motor instead of the exit chute. I bought a replacement motor, hoping this would correct the issue, to no avail. Please help.

Hi.

The situation that you are describing is not technically possible. The auger motor is a 120VAC and not reversible. Unfortunately I'm not able to find the schematic for this model number. Would you please post the part number of the auger motor you replaced.

Simon.

Hi,

The part # I replaced the original with is Electrolux 5304462594. The original motor does work as well, with both motors going in the same direction.

I had replaced the dispenser arm prior to trying all of this out, and it works for dispensing water just fine.

While replacing that, I also replaced the cover decal, which required me to take it out of the recess and disassemble.

Hi,

This is a simple single phase AC motor with one winding. Just swapping the hot and neutral connections would not change the direction as the voltage is alternating and the motor sees this as the same either way and it will still run in the same direction. In the other word it has nothing to do with the motor and/or the power supply to the motor.

You may want to check the ice bin, the ice auger and the drive cam.

Hi Gene,

Thanks for all of the information you provided. What I discovered is the replacement motor had arrived with the magnet assembly (?) assembled backwards. As they are reversible, I switched it around just as a test, and voila! It works! THanks for your assistance!

You must have taken the cutters out and replaced them in opposite direction.
