My Bosch Dishwasher has just started making a loud grinding noise when draining. It only makes the sound during draining. Can anyone help with this?? Thank you!

You either have something in the sump assembly, or you have a bad drain pump. You need to remove the bottom spray arm, the filter screen, and the cover. Once removed inspect around the drain pump opening for any trash that could be causing the noise. If there is none there, then go to the drain pump and remove it from the sump assembly. Check for trash there as well. If none is found in either place then replace the drain pump. The part number is Part number: AP2802385

Just wanted to post that I had the same problem and after following your directions, it ended up being the drain pump unfortunately...(would have rather loved pulling out something like a button and be done with it!). But---got a new drain pump and voila...no more grinding noise!! Found the Bosch repair manual online and was able to follow the directions and pictures to replace the drain pump. http://rakerprivatelibra...ir%20Man%20SHI%20SHU.pdfThank you for your help and the internet!!:)

I just wanted to say thank you! I was upset that my very quiet dishwasher was suddenly very loud and making grinding noises. I was worried it was broken. After searching the web and finding this post it turns out it was a tiny little pistachio just where you said to look. It's quiet as can be now. Thank you for saving us a repair bill :)
