I have a frigidaire affinity dryer that seems to be overheating. I didn't notice any issues with clothes getting too hot, drying or not drying. I just happened to notice that the metal grate in the back of the dryer had actually turned black and melted. Not sure what to do but it seems like this would be very dangerous.

A model number may help other help you.
Could be that you have a grounded element. Unplug the unit and both sides of the heating element. Now check across the element, usually they are around 8 to 12 ohms. Now check from each element connector to the frame, both should be infinite ohms. Be sure to find a bare metal spot on the frame. |
