I have a GE washer that I have tested the timer by checking the ohms, put the black on red power and the red on the water level switch and it ohms out to 00.0, so if the timer is testing good , what is making the washer not advance the cycles itself, we are having to manually each cycle to get the washer to work, please help

thanks

You most likely have a faulty timer.

it is acting funny, on some loads it advances, then the next load it want, wld you spend the 80.00 bucks and gamble? that is what I figure I wld do however, I wanted to get some opinions, I have found a timer for about 80.00bucks.

it wld cost about that for a repairman just to look at it, I am thinking I will gamble on buying the timer and try it.

it so weird , when I test the timer like they tell me on doityourself.com, the timer omhs out ,

thanks for the input
Randy :)

All your test did was check the timer on/off switch. If your washer is filling ok all the time and works when advancing manually, then we already know the switch is ok. The timer has other multiple sets of contacts as well as an AC motor that makes the contact cam drum rotate. Buy the timer from APP and you can return it if it doesn't work. I would not advise buying a discount timer or one from e bay or amazon.
