Fridge stopped cooling and no sound. Seemed dead. Took off back and cleaned all out. Fan that was not running before now runs. Fridge has been running about 10 hours now and seems to be cooling but condensor is hot and I am getting an intermittent sound that is hard to describe. Sort of a choking/grinding sound. When the sound occurs the fan slows or stops and then picks up again. I am not sure if fridge will come up to full cooling but it is doing better than it was but that sound can't be good. Is condensor trying to start but can't?? Would fridge get cool if condensor wasn't working??
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Mike

Thanks Gene,
Will order right away. Freezer was also getting cold while fridge wasn't. Did manual defrost and still didn't defrost. Checking resistance in heater coil and thermostat today and hopefully that will do the trick.

Gene -
Heater coil showed continuity, thermostat did not.
Ordered thermostat and motor today for overnight. Hopefully all will be fixed tomorrow and I can stop eating takeout.

New motor in, nice and quiet. New thermostat in. Plugged in about 14 hours ago. Nice and cold, top and bottom with no ice buildup!!!
Thanks - Gene
