Took several tries but got the oven to start self cleaning. About an hour...maybe less the timer started beeping, the preheated light was flashing and F2 appeared on the clock. Saw some replies to other similar questions but I'm not sure my oven has a fan. Have never heard one running. Any ideas? Thanks.

Here are your parts Parts for GE JBP30BA2 Range - AppliancePartsPros.comI also do not see a fan in yourunit. looking at F2 for a GE it comes up as an over temperature error. I would check the oven sensor. Below is info on how to do this. Look at 7, 8, 20 and 21. http://www.applianceaid.com/electric-range-repair-topics.phpDoes the unit run OK now when in a normal bake or broil mode? If not then unplug the stove for a couple minutes and give it another try. Could also be a bad connection on the board that heats up and then opens causing the error. Check the connector on the oven sensor to be sure it is clean and properly crimped. Check the connector on the board where the sensor attaches. It may be a cold solder joint. Theses joints may be a duller silver and/or have pin holes. Also gently wigge the connector while looking at the solder side of the board to see if the connector legs move in the solder. A magnifying glass is useful here. |

Thanks denman! I will check these out. If I have no luck is it okay just to use Easy Off or something similar the old fashioned way? Will it hurt anything? The oven REALLY needs a good cleaning.

As long as the inside of the oven is porcelain it shouldnot hurt anything.
I am not 100% sure on this so also check your operators manual in case they have a warning against using an oven cleaner. |
