I "inherited" a kitchen aid oven without a wall plug. I used my old Jenn Air 3 prong wall plug. Burners work, clock works and that is it. Is it my wall plug? do I need a 4 prong? the code F5 E3 comes up after reset the breaker.

Please help!

could be you will have to check it.

do I need a 4 prong?
Depends how it was hooked up originally.
On 4 wire Neutral and ground are separate.
On 3 wide Neutral and ground are the same. Ground (frame) is usually tied to the Neutral in the unit with a ground strap.
See the install sheet.

Check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.
Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!!
