Hi, I accidently dropped a plastic lid into my lint trap, I tried the tape around the coat hanger method and it did not work. Any suggestions ? I really do not have the money to hire a repairman. I know this can subsequently be a fire hazard, please help......:)

Below is the belt. If you click on the picture a new page will open with a video on disassembly of theses units. Part number: AP2946843
if you go to the Sears parts site they have actual parts breakdowns which may also be useful. Unfortunately AppliancePartsPros do not have access to these. I would try to get the lint chute out the back without doing a full disassembly. Unplug the unit. Remove the rear cover Remove the lint filter and the two screws holding the chute to the lid. Then try to get the chute out of the unit. I would also check/clean the blower wheel and vent system while you are working on it. If you have to fully disassemble the unit you may as well give it a bit of an overhaul. So check and replace as necessary the belt, rear support rollers, the front drum support, the idler wheel, drum seals etc. |

It may not work but if you have a good vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment try using a flexible plastic tube secured VERY strongly to the end of the vacuum tube. Use duct tape to make sure no suction leaks Put this down into the lint trap as far as you can and see if it will pull the lid up far enough to grab it
