getting error code F11. book states to check the ccu and the mcu. Which one is the most common to fail?

The MCU seems to fail more frequently on these Duet models. I would get both parts and change them out one at a time, and see if that fixes things. If you buy from this site you can return the parts you do not need or that do not fix the problem.
You can also do some testing. The tech notes under the top will take you through the process.
