My kitchenaid refrigerator is shutting off randomly. I must hit the "holiday" button twice to turn it back on. When it's on, all works fine with both the refrigerator and freezer. No error codes. The shut off is completely random, sometimes once a day and other times will be 4 times in an hour. We did have a bottle explosion on the top shelf about a week ago and the problems started about 5 days after.

If you have a thin control panel in the upper fridg section, peal off the overlay, remove the screws and drop the control panel, unplug it and examine it for contamination.

Do you know where the control would be? Above the fridge or inside the fridge? Thanks

The panel inside the fridg section where you control the temperature, most probable location for contamination.

Removed the control panel, but it is clean. All connections tight and good.

So seems it mimics the same issue when the door is left open too long. Shuts off and requires double push of "holiday" to turn it back on. Could the door pin be bad? Seems like the most probable issue at the moment. Tia!

With the control panel hanging down, tap on any pc board, one might be intermittent.

Will give it a go in a few. After leaving the door opened last night checking the board out and putting it back, the fridge consistently did the open door issue along with an "overtemp" issue. Also the control panel was pretty hot.

You might have a light bulb not turning off.

I will check that too. At this point, the control panel seems the most likely cause.

Will a bulb not shutting off cause the overtemp/door open issue? The issue seems never to be consistent, leading me to believe it may be electrical.

Your most probable problem is the control board, if the bulb goes off when you close the door.
