Hello,
The vent fan in my NuTone range hood runs well on high-speed but takes about 5 minutes to get up to the correct rpms on low speed. Troubleshooting efforts I have tried are oiling the fan motor and letting the fan run for 5-10 minutes on low setting to ensure that it is completely lubricated. Please advise.

on high, the fan motor recieves 120 volts. on low the voltage drops in order to slow the fan down. make sure the grease filter is clean and the damper is opening. sounds like a bad motor otherwise.

Thank you for your response. Please clarify what the grease filter is. There is a stainless steel filter--what I would call an air filter--which has been cleaned. Also, the damper does work--I can hear it open and close.
Please tell me if I can still obtain the same fan motor, or let me know of another that would work with my range hood's bracket holes. In addition, any other information that I may need to have in selecting a new motor--if that is the case--will be appreciated.

the air filter and grease filter are the same part. it is a lot easier to replace the fan motor with the original. get the model no. off the hood and call cashwells appliance parts at 1-800-277-1220. they can help on the part, original or replacement.

I think your issue has been solved and the vent fan is working well. Can you please share the steps that you used to troubleshoot this problem?

I solved the issue by taking the fan motor to a local repair shop. They took it apart, cleaned, and lubricated it. It works just fine now. Just
goes to show that it is sometimes worth repairing things instead of
replacing them. I saved myself a great deal of money by doing so.
