Freezer stopped cooling. Initially I cleared it out and adjusted to the temp cooler to see what happened. It started cooling again for several days. Then it stopped cooling again. I replaced the defrost thermostat and the adaptive defrost control board. Again it started working fine for a day, not it has quit cooling again. I assume if it was the compressor it wouldnt work at all. Any ideas what else would be making it stop cooling?

Here are your parts http://www.appliancepartspros.c...ch.aspx?model=FRS23R4CW7Here is your wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...f/Anderson/240389616.pdfFirst you have to determine if the compressor is running when it is not cooling. You can usually hear it but should also be able to feel it vibrating and it should be warm. It should be on whenever the condenser/compressor fan is on, they are wired in parallel. If the compressor is running then check the evaporator/freezer coils to see if it is a defrost problem or a sealed system problem. If the compressor does not run adjust the main temperature control up and down. If the compressor fires up then odds are that the control thermostat is sticking open. |
