I have a 1.5 yr old LG 3-door French Door Refrigerator, which is out of warranty. The front water/ice/temp control dispenser went out. However, the refrigerator and freezer are still working. I would like to check the main boards inside. How do I remove the dispenser unit from its door? Thank you...

Hi Gene, first, I'll quickly update you on the status. I purchased the display board, thinking that it is bad, from searsparts.com (ApplianceParts did not have it) and just had it delivered this evening. After replacing it, it still does not work. A couple of things were checked when the dispenser assembly was pulled off: 1) the display board itself and 2) 12V power at the board. I did think that the power board was bad initially, but, I decided that it was OK as the freezer/refrigerator is functioning fine. As well, I think there is 12V at the connector. Do you have any recommendation as to why the display board is not functioning? Do you think the other small board on the side of the dispenser unit bad? Is it as simple as replacing a fuse somewhere? I would appreciate any help and I thank you in advance.

Looks like there is a problem with the power to the display board. Unfortunately LG does not provide any troubleshooting instructions for such problem. You may want to replace the "other small board" which I believe LG call PCB assy sub first. This part is absolutely inexpensive. If it would not fix the problem, replace the main PCB.

Hi Gene, well, we are still at ground ZERO. The display is still out, but, the refrig and freezer is still working. I've went ahead and replaced the PCB assy sub (EBR60070707). That did NOT work. So, as you have suggested, I replaced the main PCB (EBR65002714). That did NOT work either. So far, I've replaced 3 boards: 1) display PCB assy (EBR65749301), 2) PCB assy sub board (EBR60070707), and 3) main PCB (EBR65002714).
I'm running out of 'boards' to replace. I'm running out of options. I'm getting frustrated. I guess I have to keep trying and get it fixed, since the refig is costly to start with.
I think there are perhaps two boards still remaining that may be replaced: 1) PCB assy sub board (EBR65640204)-back of the refrig where main board sits, and 2) PCB asy sub (EBR60388502)-in the front display. Any comments?
Gene, do you have any idea of why the display is still out? Do I need to replace those two other boards? Do I need to worry about the wires too?
Anything that is so obvious that I'm over looking? I keep thinking that there is a reset button or a fuse that needs replacing. Any thoughts? This thing is making me frustrated... Any help will be much appreciated.

Searching for some answers, I've looked again on replaced boards, etc. Then, I decided to check the connectivity again, since both the freezer and refrig were working. Surely, the problem was with the connection, specifically, the connector. It was burnt. With the replaced connectors, the display is up and working. All is well. Thanks.
