I replaced the igniter, but still no luck. The broiler works, but as soon as I turn the temp down the igniter stops glowing. Noe it seems like an electical problem? Please advise.
Thanks again

Here goes. when the ovem is turned on, it does not warm up and the igniter does not glow. Nor do I smell gas when I open the oven door. When the controll knob is turned to "broil" the igniter starts glowing after about 5 seconds and the flames at the top of the oven comes on and burns nicely. As soon as the I turn the controll to 550 the igniter dims and the gas is turned off. Is there a pilot or somthing that has to be lit in the lower part of the oven?
Thank you for your help

No nothing has to be lit. The problem is either in the control board or the gas valve. You will have to have a meter to find out which one. If you have a meter disconnect power from the range. Then remove the wires off the gas valve and see if you have continuity between the two terminals. If there is no continuity the valve is bad and needs replacing. If you do have continuity on the valve I would say the control is bad but you would have to check for voltage to be sure.
