I've pulled the transmission cover off, and the parts on the shaft are all there, as per the diagram. The only part I haven't looked at is the gear submerged in the oil. Please tell me what else I should look for. Thank you!

I have the same problem but both belts are fine. when it is supposed to agitate no sound at all comes from the washer. It doesnt try to do anything. Could I have a bad switch ?

That's what mine did. I ended up replacing my washer.

If there is no sound from the motor in agitate and spin mode, then yes, you could have a bad lid switch. What is your model number?
