If you found the solenoid has failed, then it needs to be replaced, but you mentioned the dishwasher doesn't advance which makes me think the solenoid failure may have also caused the timer to fail. If it won't advance by itself, then the timer needs to be replaced along with the solenoid. The failed solenoid would be the reason for it not draining, but if the unit won't continue to the next wash cycle, then it's looking like a timer as well.

Thanks for the quick reply - I'll price the timer as well and make a decision to either fix or replace the unit. Much appreciated.
