Our old portable dishwasher is starting to have problems and I may not be able to fix it when it breaks. I looked at the portable offerings available if I have to replace it, and wasn't impressed.

Are built-in dishwasher sizes and connections standard enough that I might be able to put a new built-in into the old cabinet?

Hi,

In such situation the most important for you is the cabinet opening, so you would not have to alterate the cabinet. There are two different width for all built-in dishwashers: 18" and 24".

Measure the cabinet opening and then check the installation instructions for a new dishwasher.

Gene.
