We have a Kenmore Elite Upright Freezer, model 970.247621, made by Electrolux (their model 24762), also branded as Frigidaire model FFU2067FW. Freezer is in an unfinished basement. Mfgr'd in 2007. Recently, we noticed that freezer cycles on for extremely long periods of time, 4-5 hours straight, before finally shutting down. Freezer kept 80-90% full. Good door seal. Outside digital display set to -20Celcius/-4 F, however, inside temperature goes to -26C / -15F. Only way to turn off compressor is to shut down / turn freezer back on. Compressor then stays off for a couple of hours. Tried to increase temp to -15C/ 5F, however, unit still runs, getting temperature back down to -26C/-15F, as if it is never satisfied with being cold enough! No ice build up in freezer, no frosting inside compartment. Condensor is inside cabinet. Evaporator coils not overly frosted. Reading through a number of posts, we decided to change the thermistor. Unfortunately, this does not seem to have solved the problem - with temp set to -15C/-5F, freezer ran continuously - we got fed up and checked interior temp to find it had gone down to -26C/-15F. Again, no ice build up. Guessing it could only be the Electronics, high voltage (control module?) part 216979700, but am also wondering if it could be a sticking relay Controller Compressor Part no. 297051003. Based on other threads, I am assuming that the Control Board, Digital Part no. 216944300 has nothing to do with the problem. HELP!!
