I was having a frige section not getting cold enough with the freezer fine. This guy came out and said I needed a new evaperator fan motor and sent these two young guys out but they were not experienced enough and didn't recognize that I had a defroster problemas the coils were heavily frosted and some ice also in there. They replaced the motor and left. I took the original motor and becch checked it and it was worked perfectly. I tore into it about an hour after they left and replaced that motor which they had the motor turning clockwise and I think the fan blade upside down . It was forcing air upward but guess it could draw air across the coils but I reversed the rotation and turned the propeller over and now it blows directly on the coils and through them to all the louver openings at the bottom of the freezer and into the freezer. Also replaced the thermostat ( evaparator limit switch ) while I was into it at the time. Closed everything up and let it run overnight and this morning it was 0 degrees in the freezer and 40 degrees in the frig section with the controls set on 7 for the freezer and 8 for the frig side. But changed the fridge to 7 also this morning. Can you tell me if this is the correct airflow, blowing down through the coils to the bottom rather than trying to suck the air movement up through the coils. Oh yes, the heating element measured 7 ohms with both leads detached. I haven't actually tried to pull that bottom cover and go to defrosr ( clicking the fridge side light sw. 5times in six seconds) and waiting to see if I get a glow off the element. ( dark night time ) Temp this morning after running all night was 0 degree in the freezer and 40 degrees in the fridge where it has been all day. Do you have any comments on this? I realize this does not cover the defrost timer or motherboard. Thanks Hank

Hi.
Post the complete model number of the unit.
The typical air flow direction is up flow. You need to reverse the flow.

O.K. Simon, I just pulled it out and reversed the flow so it's gonna be a few hours till it stabilizes itself although I was only in there for fifteen minutes.

Waite for 24 hrs and then check the temp.

O.K. Knew it was gonna take that Simon, this was like when I was in the military " Hurry Up And Wait. " Thought when I retired from being chief of Maint. for this Company, my work waqs over~~~~little did I know that's when it started. Thanks, Hank

Simon,Well it's over 24 hours as of yesterday aft. Freezer is sitting about 0 degrees now and the Frig. about 42, as I had to turn it down some as that sucker froze my iceburg lettuce in the bottom of the Frig. compt. Right now I 'm running the Freezer on No. 6 and the Frig. on 5 and it seems to be holding at the temperatures above. This seems about ideal. Thanks again for the input, Hank

Are you sure ,Hank that the thermostat you are using is accurate?
The temp in the refrigerator should be 37 - 41F. Some produce may go south at 42F and higher.

Well it was a brand new unit I bought from this Appliance Repair Service in Santa Ana near home and those things are hard to check as they are normally open but you can put an ohm meter across them and hit it with a little R-134 and they will close when the temp they are built for. My spec sheet calls for freezer temp of 0 to 4 degrees and frig. 34 to 39 degrees so its sort of like yours. I'm gonna correct myselg on the frig. temperature as I'm reading 39 degrees now. Gonna watch it for next 24, and if it stays at 39, I'll drop it down a degree or so! Hank
