How long did you keep the door open? It should be open for at least 30 seconds.

Does it affect any of the dishwasher functions? If not then you can keep it as is.
If it bothers you then replace the control board. If you need the correct part number, post the serial number of the dishwasher.

This is a Maytag Dishwasher model MDB5601AWB. Upon further review, it is the "Rinse Only" light that randomly goes on and off when the door is open. This event still occurs randomly hours after a successful washing cycle. Sometimes (becoming more frequent) it is difficult to set the desired lights to start a washing cycle. After pushing "buttons" at random many times, I am able to start a wash cycle. Does anyone know a link to download the Service Manual and the description of diagnostic/test codes and error codes? The Users Manual basically just describes the Delay and Control Lock functions.
Thanks

Such new description makes big difference in diagnosis. It points to a faulty keypad which is a part of the control panel. You can perform the tests as described in the attached tech sheet but I don't think it will help. - The control panel Part number: 6-919819
