I have an amana dryer. The heat stopped. My knee jerk reaction i bought a new heater element board (included the therms on the board). While the board instructions did not show how to wire the blue wire but did show the black and orange. I switched the wires the way of the old way and the instructions way. Neither way gave heat.

I tested the 4 therms and 3 of the 4 tested good down to 0 for residtsnce. Part number AP4070513 did not. I bought a new one but it does show resistsnce either, so im guessing its not suppose to?

My questions.
1. What else should i test? Timer?
2. How is the blue wire connected w the black and orange?

If there is a lose connection, dirty connection or a poorly crimped connector, the electricity sees this as a resistance so when current passes through it, it heats up. This further degrades the connection so more heat and so on and so on till the connection fails.
Could even be that the contacts in the timer pitted and resulted in overheating.

I could not find a wiring diagram for the unit but the H designation is probably for heater so this circuit has a lot of current flowing through it.

I would replace the time4.
Also check the wire if it is damaged you will have to cut it back till you get to nice clean copper and then put a new high current connector on it.

No it was not just age.
The connection probably had a problem from day one, it just took a while for it to get bad enough to fail.
