I have a Bertazzoni model X365GGVX oven/stove. I have searched the forum and, though I've seen similar problems, I don't see exactly the same thing as I'm experiencing, so I'm posting this. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

My gas oven uses an electrical ignitor/spark to ignite the gas, for the broiler and for the oven. The proper procedure is to (1) leave the door ajar, (2) turn the knob to start the gas flow (for either the broiler, top, or the oven, bottom), (3) depress the button to initiate the ignitor/spark, and (4) after the gas ignites, hold the ignitor/spark for 10 seconds. After this, you can release the ignitor/spark and the broiler or oven will remain lit.

Though a pain, this has always worked. Now, though, the oven portion will light this way but will not remain lit. The broiler will light and remain lit.

From this, I presume that the gas flow is fine, since the broiler works and the oven will also ignite fine and appears to have full gas flow. Also, the ignitor/spark is working for the broiler and oven too. But, the oven will not remain lit, whereas the broiler will.

The odd thing is that I discovered that if I first light the broiler and let it burn for 10 seconds or so, I can then successfully light the oven and it WILL remain lit. So, it CAN work, but it won't work if I try to light the oven first.

Ideas?

Some more info: though I'm able to start the oven using the method mentioned (light the broiler, turn it off, light the oven), I just discovered that the oven does not stay lit this way. It goes out after about 30 seconds. By contrast, the broiler will light and stay lit.

Absent the specific technical info for this particular product, does anyone have any ideas as to what the issues might be? Thermocouple, for example? Something else? Does this problem (oven burner will not remain lit) typically result from the failure of some specific part?

@bobinca - I have the exact same issue you describe - including being able to light the broiler ok - and the oven lighting if the broiler is lit first - but then goes out 20 seconds later.

Did you have yours serviced - and/or discover what the issue was? Out started doing this last night - so can't call for service until Monday.

Thanks

I have Bertazzoni X365GGVX and had the same issue of the oven not staying lit. The problem was the thermocouple. This is a $20 part I bought from Replacement parts and accessories Took me a while to find a source for the parts.

For my particular oven the thermocouple part number was 508026. You can find the part numbers in the service manual that came with the range. You may want to also change out the igniter while you have the oven apart for me this was part number 415076.

Took about 20 minutes to install and now the oven works better than ever. To do the job you need a 5/16" wrench, a philips screwdriver, and two electrical tie wraps. The tie wraps will replace the ones you need to cut off to remove the thermocouple.

BTW:

This problem can only be one of two things the thermocouple or the thermostat . The thermostat is $150 so start with the $20 thermocouple and if does not fix it you need a new thermostat.

I was wondering if the part you are referring to is the thermocouple oven burner....there are multiple thermocouples listed in the parts list and I want to make sure I have the correct one before I order. Exact same problem that you have. Thanks.

Mike G, can you help me to replace the thermocoupler. What do you need to do? Do you have to remove the top of the stove? How do you do that? Whatever you can offer would be helpful.

Thanks

I talked with Bertazzoni re replacing thermocouple on an oven that wouldn't stay lit (they said that was the ticket) and am in fact mid-job: back off, screws removed from below burners, but the top won't budge and so I can't get at the thermocouple attachment to the thermostat. Can anyone guide me through top removal? Thanks!
