Recently my top load washer is making extremely loud noises during the spin cycles mostly. The noise is a combination of what could be described as a scratching/scraping, high pitched noise with the basket while also a second noise that is louder more thud-ish like sound. It's just the noise right now, but didn't want the problem to increase. The washer is still cleaning, so we're continuing to use it, but just very loud and annoying. I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks!

Hard to say without a model number, post one and lets see what your machine looks like.
The problem might be as simply as something caught between the basket and tub or something in the pump.

Remove the front panel of the washer by inserting a putty knife into the top groove of the panel in line with the lid opening on each side to release the clips. Pull slightly on the front panel when inserting the putty knife. After releasing the clips, tilt the panel outward and lift off from the cabinet. Look closely with flashlight at the bottom of the tub assembly to see if the main drive pulley or motor shaft are hitting the bottom of the washer while in spin mode.

I removed the front panel and found during a cycle the pulley is scrapping at the bottom on the frame so it's metal scrapping metal... And possibly the front metal pieces under the motor are scrapping as well.

Could be a sagging front apron, which is a known issue with this washer. There is a kit available and if you complain to GE they should provide you one free of charge. You need to remove the top cover to see if this is the problem. You would see the top lip of the cabinet bent down causing the entire suspension assembly to lower. It could also be broken suspension rod supports. You will notice that the tub assembly is supported by four suspension rods hanging from the top front and rear aprons. The rod supports are the little "cups" that the rods hang from. Worn out suspension rods can also cause this problem but I think it is most likely a sagging apron. Eric
