The Left Front burner will not get hot. If I put the LF burner into the Right Rear hole, it does heat up. If I take the RR burner (that works in that hole) and put it into the LF hole, It does not work.
I have replaced the switch (Hi-Med-Low), and replaced the block the burner goes into. When the switch is in the Hi position, I have power up to the block on both wires. But the burner still does not heat up.
What am I missing? :confused:

Hi.
Check the voltage between the two wires inside the receptacle block.You should have the 240VAC. If you don't have the correct voltage - check the wires from the switch to the block.Then check if there is 240VAC between the H1 and H2 at the infinite switch (turned to high).
Post the results.

Thank You. Will check the voltage. Was thinking that when I replaced the block, did I get the wires together correctly. I was checking for power between the switch and where I connected the block wires. I should have also checked for power from where the wires hooked together up to the block. Maybe that is the problem. One more step to take.

I should mention the range is 5 miles away. Plan on looking at it on Tues. and will report back on Wed,

Simon Here are today's tests. Used a OHM meter and tested H1 & H2 from the switch to the block. Also tested the burner with OHM meter. H1 & H2 & burner were "0" OHM. Turned on switch to HI and used a volt meter and tested the H1 & H2 at the block. Each wire was 125 Volts. I do not know how to test for 240 Volts with my 2 wire tester. One wire is "+" the other is "-". Not sure if is my lack of knowledge or my tester. Tested the H1 & H2 at the terminal blocks on the back of the switch. Each was putting out 125 Volts. Any more ideas?? To me, it seams as if the burner is not making contact with the block terminals, but upon inspection, I can see they are snug in the block. I even took a file on the burner ends, to be sure contact was good. I am at a loss. HELP!!

Hi.
To test for 240VAC you should touch each contact or wire with the meter's probe. You are testing between the two contacts and it doesn't metter what color probe is it. The easiest thing to do probably wood be just putting the probes into the receptacle one in the each opening and turn the switch on. If there is no 240VAC check the wires and trace them to the switch. Check voltage between H1 and H2. No voltage - check if you nave 240VAC between L1 and L2 at the switch.

If I am reading your post correctly, I take the "+" probe into one side of the receptacle. And the "-" probe into the other side of the receptacle. Is that correct? Sorry about the post of asking where you are. Trying to learn how your site works. Back to the attic.

Just took your advise and checked my home range. Yes I get 240 Volts at the receptacle. Since I am 3 miles from the bad range, if I was getting 125 volts from each side of the receptacle would I still need to test for 240 Volts? The next question is it may be a week before I get to the bad range. So do I post in this thread in a week or start a new thread?
