My washer leaks oil from under the agitator into the washing drum leaving oil spots and stains on clothes. I've run several cycles with just hot water and soap to try and clean it out, but, to avail. Is there any reason for oil to seep from a broken bearing or something else in the agitator motor into the washing drum? Can this be fixed?

Remove the agitator by placing a strap under it near the center and yank upwards to pop it off. Remove the agitator coupler and inspect where the agitator shaft comes out of the spin tube. There is an oil seal there. There shouldn't be any side/side play in the agitator shaft. If there is oil coming out of this area, it cannot be fixed. You would have to replace the transmission.
