Kenmoore Elite Cloths Washer has a loud banging noise near the shaft bearing area only in the mid spin cycle. The shaft and pully does not have any looseness or wabbling appear s bearing is still good.
Has anyone reported anything of this sort and if so what repair?

This sounds like a bad bearing, but operate it with the back off and see if you can observe what is happening. It could be a bad pulley, a pulley out of alignment or the support struts or springs.

I had removed the back from the washer and the noise seems to be in the area of the bearing, but the pulley is tracking straight and there isn't any looseness in the basket. Turning by hand pretty fast with washer off, no noise or draging, very smooth , no play in the shaft. The bearing and basket was changed under warrenty 3 yaers after buying new. That bearing situation was easy to see. I don't know if changing the struts and springs would help but I don't see anything else. Is there any way to test or check the struts???

If there were a problem in the struts you should be able to see it, but you cannot always see a problem with the bearing. I strongly suspect that is your problem, in which case if the machine is out of extended warranty you may want to consider replacement.

I agree with your assesment, will probably live with the knocking noise until it gets unbearable and then replace the washer, Thanks for the help. Paul
