. There is a high pitch noise that cycles with the CONDENSOR FAN which is cycling on & off like the ticking of a clock. I can also hear a click, like a circuit breaker, cycling at the same time coming from a box that is on top of the condensor cover and behind the main off & on switch. The temperatures have stayed at set settings and the freezer and refrig. are staying cold. This has been going on for a week and is driving my wife out of the kitchen. Hope someone has some ideas. Thanks.

THE CLICKING IS COMING FROM THE CONTROL BOARD HOUSING #4. I THINK IT MIGHT BE THE Pc BOARD POWER SUPPLY # 31. IS THERE ANY WAY TO TEST THIS POWER SUPPLY BOARD?

Hello,

I'm afraid I did not get clear what is "cycling on & off like the ticking of a clock". Is this the compressor or just that noise?

Make sure the condenser fan blade is not touching anything.

Please describe the problem as detailed as possible and post the complete model number of the refrigerator.

Hi Everybody,

I'm new to this forum and have a similar problem with my Kitchen Aid refrigerator model number KSSC42QMS03. Just recently, a high pitch whining sound has developed. The sound goes away when the refrigerator door is opened as the light/control display comes on. It will start back up again when the light/control display panel is off, even if the door is open, if the door light switch is not activated. Whether the compressor is on or off does not seem to make any difference. The noise sounds like a slightly fainter version of the beeping sound when the temperature control buttons are pushed, but it's a constant sound, not a beep.

I've also tried turning off the switch on the control panel and tried opening and closing the refrigerator door. When the panel is off, the noise is no longer there. Opening and closing the refrigerator door when the panel is turned off does not make any difference, there's no noise. The noise only seems to be there when the panel is on and when the panel is not lit.

The refrigerator and freezer seem to be working fine as everything still stays cold. I tried turning off the main switch behind the grill cover (per Kitchen Aid's instruction when I called them, waiting 10 minutes before turning back on to see if it helps) and the problem still persists.

The noise stays consistently on for the most part, but every once in a while, it will go silent. And then a bit later, it turns back on again. Anybody have any idea what is wrong? I think it's somehow related to the user control display board. Not sure if replacing the board will solve the problem. Any thoughts? Much appreciated. Thanks.
