I have a Maytag dishwasher model DWU8860 purchased in 1994 that has recently started tripping the gfi outlet. Does anyone know of a possible cause and if so, is it fixable?

I am assuming this is an in outlet GFI and not an in electrical panel GFI.
Often it is the GFI itself. If it trips at the same point during the cycle determine what is on when it trips, this may provide a clue. Remove the kick plate and check that you do not have a small leak.
Normally a dishwasher, fridge etc. are not recommended to be run off a GFI but this varies by area re: electrical code. As motors age they become electrically noisy and this can trip GFI's. |
