I want to temporarily disable the interior LED light in GE Profile french door refrigeratior when opening doors. Light switch is by left door but activates when either door is opened. Taping it down has no effect.

It's not easy because this light operates by a separate special control board. I can give you some instructions but it can damage the refrigerator controls.

I know this is an old post, but it fits my issue exactly. I need a way to disable the lights so that the interior lights dont go on when the door is opened. An alternative would be to remove the light bulbs completely (assuming that is safe to do)
Thanks

Thanks. it doesnt seem so simple. there is a plastic cover which pops off. underneath that is circuit board of sorts, with the LED bulbs built in, and a screw holding it in. I took out the screw and the board is connected with 2 wires.

I cannot tell you where to disconnect it as I do not have access to GE tech data.
If there is enough slack you could unplug the unit and cut the wire/s and then reconnect them later with a couple small wire nuts. You should only have to cut one of them. |
