I have a Kenmore 417.81142000 S/N: XD13207598 purchased new in 2001 that has worked fine but now has a horrible sqeak. I pulled off the covers today and listened to it and it doesn't sound like the squeak is coming from the belt or the idler pulley. It sounds like bearing squeak.
I found all the parts on this site to replace the Drum Belt: AP3865318, Bearing Kit: AP2142648, and Idler Arm Assy: AP3886900.
First question; Am I on the right track? If I'm going to replace the bearings I'm thinking I may as well replace the belt and idler too since it's farily inexpensive right?
Trying to avoid spending big $$$$ calling the Sears guy since I did most of the hard work pulling it out from under my custom laundry room countertop and pulling the covers off!;)
Thanks for any input and advice!!!! :)

If you have to open it up you may as well give it an overhaul. The following may be helpful. http://frigidaireservicetips.com/pdfs/363_5.75cuftGasElectricDryerGoodandBetterModels.pdfWhile in there also check the the front glides, seals etc.. Give the interior and the blower wheel a good cleaning. Also a good time to check/clean your vent system. |

Thank you Denman. I just realized that i never posted a reply. I repaired that problem 2 years ago and now there is a problem with clothes getting stuck in between the drum and the front housing just above the door. It happens on just about every load now where a tshirt or something will get lodged between the drum and housing and make a brown mark. It feels like i can lift the front of the drum up about a half inch or so. I'm thinking whatever the drum rides on opposite the rear bearing must be worn. I looked on the parts listing and can't fine what part it might be. Any ideas? thanks so much for your help!!!!!

If you go to the Sears parts site they have actual part breakdown diagrams. Unfortunately AppliancePartsPros do not have access to these. It looks like the upper felt seal for the drum should have glides on it. Click on the picture below for more views/info on the part. Part number: 5303937139
