I can't afford to spend $80 to have someone come out PLUS labor Plus parts. I have to figure something out about it. I live out in the country. I am on a budget raising a family. I hate the glow bar technology since I have to pay for electric and gas to run the stove. I am thinking of going backwards and trying to find a SIMPLE gas stove that has a pilot. If I did, then when the power goes out, I can still use my oven. With the glowbars in the oven, I can't use it without electricity. A stove with a pilot would be simple and not have any computer boards, or full of technology that breaks and I can't afford to fix. I have to find a 30 inch wide stove. I might have located one at a used appliance store. It is a Hotpoint. I found a vintage Magic Chef and a Caloric heritage series on Craigslist. does anyone have any suggestions of good brands to look for and ones to stay away from? The only other option so far is the Premier gas stove with the thermocoupler or the battery spark ignition. Both of those can be used with electric. Premier stove would be about $750 to my home, which would take me awhile to save up for. I know to some of you who are buying $2000 stoves this is inconceivable, but I just need to have a working, serviable stove that I can prepare meals for my family on with out breaking the budget. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? thanks for your input! Ann from KY
