My Maytag Ultimate Care II (2) Does not drain. I checked and even changed the water pump and the timer. The pipes are not clogged because water would drain when I lie the hose flat on the ground.

The washer agitates but when it comes to draining the water, it does not drain and just sits with a tub full of water. When I select rinse on the timer, it will fill the tub (after I manually remove the water by placing the hose flat on the ground) but it would not spin. Any ideas on what could the repair symptom be?

Does the motor hum during drain/spin? If not, does this washer normally agitate with lid open? If it does, then I suspect the lid switch. If the motor just hums, sounds like a gearcase issue.

Thanks Fairbanks. There's no humming from the washer when it is time to drain the water. The washer agitated when the lid switch is set to close. It agitated when I remove the lid switch from the machine so I tried a direct wire to connect the 2 live circuits of the lid switch. Any ideas, so you think I should get a new lid switch? Any other things I should look for?
