My Maytag in-door ice dispenser won't stop sending ice thru the door. The soft pad was held in for an extended time to fill a large pitcher and now the rear freezer motor won't stop running. If I open the door the motor stops, but once closed it keeps sending ice. So I unplugged the fridge and took out the rear ice auger motor from the freezer. FYI, the water dispenser button on front of door works fine. We just don't use the soft pad. I'm considerring changing the control circut board in the door. Any confirmation or suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi.

Is the water comes from the fountain without the pad being pushed?

The water flow works fine using either the pad or the front panel water button. There is no problem with the water flow stopping and starting. However the ice can only be dispensed via the pad. When the pad is set in ice dispense mode I could see, and hear, the actuator move by the auger motor. That was before I took the motor out. Currently when I press the pad in ice mode the only thing that happens is the small ice drop door within the door panel opens and shuts as expected.

The problem is just the rear auger motor keeps turning and won't shut off. Thanks for your help.

Hi.

According the diagram and based on the info you provided the problem is most likely with the main control board, located at the compressor compartment

Part number: 2322547
Part number: 2322547

But there is still a chance that the dispenser board is bad

Part number: W10144584
Part number: W10144584

You can get both of them and return the one you don't need.
(Even if you installed it).

Here are the breakdown diagrams and 08-Dispenser Front Parts parts for Maytag MSD2574VEB10 - AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

Simon, I received my parts yesterday but I didn't get any installation instructions. Do you know where I can find install instructions for the 2 control boards that were delivered?

Thank you,
Steve

Hi.

To disassemble the fountain:
-unplug the fridge
-pull out the grill
-remove two screws behind it
-lift up and out the escutcheon from the fountain assembly
-disconnect the plug from the control
-remove the three screws holding the fountain assembly and carefully pull it out

To replace the main board locate it next to the compressor, remove the cover, using needle nose pliers squeeze plastic tabs to take the board out.

I installed the door panel control card 7 days ago and everything has been working fine. Using your instructions, it was a very easy install that only needed a phillips head screw driver.

I didn't post this sooner because I wanted to give it some time to confirm that the problem has been fixed. Also, I did not need to install the main control card so I'm going to return that part.

Thank you for your help. Steve
