The front left triple burner on the glass top downdraft cook top only heats on the largest size. What needs to be replaced and how hard is it to do this? Does the cook top need to be taken apart from underneath where the downdraft system is all connected?

Hello janis, The problem can be a bad switch for this burner or a bad heating element. In order to determine which part exactly is bad you have to check both parts for continuity. In order to do it you have to remove the cooktop from the counter and take it apart from the bottom. I believe you can disconnect the blower unit from the cooktop before you will remove the cooktop from the counter. If you are willing to do the troubleshooting yourself, let us know and we will provide the troubleshooting instructions for you. If you do not feel comfortable to do it then hire a pro to do it for you. You still can by parts by yourself to save some money. - The infinite switch Part number: 8286070

You are welcome. Remove the cooktop and take it apart. Start the troubleshooting from checking all wires and connections to make sure they are not grounded and/or shorted. Draw a picture of how the wires are connected to the heating element and disconnect them. Check the heating element coils for continuity according to the wiring diagram attached to the post. If there is noting wrong, do the same with the infinite switch for this burner. Post the results. The following article on our forum will explain in detail how to run a continuity test using either an analog meter or a digital meter - http://forum.appliancepartspros...continuity-ohmmeter.htmlGene.
