For some reason my dryer will not shut off on its own. I run it and have to sit and check on it because when it gets to the off area it doesnt stop and doesnt click to off. I forgot the other day and it ran for 7 hours. What can I do??

Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool LER6620PQ1 Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet. I am assuming that if you turn the timer to off it does shut off. What cycle type are you using? Does the timer advance in timed dry? Does the unit shut off in timed dry? Does the timer advance in air only? Does the timer advance in auto cycles? |

Every setting will advance until it gets right next to OFF then it stays in that spot while dryer continues to run.

It could be a number of things but since you were having what sounded like timer problems I would start there.
Could be you had a bad timer contact arm and it shorted out to other contacts in the timer causing a short.
You will have to locate where the short occurred since there was a flash and smoke this should not be too difficult. |
