On the top (12:00 position) of the back of my outer tub assembly on my LG WM0532HW clothes washer, there is a maybe 1.5" diameter round opening. In the opening is a grey plastic mushroom-looking piece with a rubber leg attached. It is not depicted in the exploded parts diagram that I can find. A bellows attaches to it (F315, from what I can tell) that in turn attaches to a vent at the top end of the machine.

Can anyone confirm that this mushroom piece just serves as a water splash stop function for an air vent and that it really is supposed to be just floating there?

Thanks!

Hi.

You are correct. It's an air vent water splash guard.

Thanks! And it's supposed to be just floating there without any sort of additional support?
