Hello, got this washer from a brother-in-law and from day one have had problems with the lid switch, at first if you would put some pressure the magnets would read and it would work, now i have had to take the unit apart, i cut the lid switch out of the circuit and basically jumped it out, but now it doesnt work at all...it seems as though there was a resistor in he switch i removed and the board is looking for a certain resistance reading? I have found a new switch online and im desperately trying to wait til after the holidays to buy it..is there ANY way i can disable the lid switch so it will always work? Or am i just not even in the right ballpark? Thanks ahead of time

Still tinkering with it, i have the wires going to the switch stripped back and i plug the unit in and put it in "drain amd spin" and i touch the wires and it very slowly starts to spin, very similar to what the unit wpuld intermittently do WITH the old lid switch in the circuit...im not completely convinced it is the lid switch thats bad, there would have to have been.some kind of electrical component in the small switch if it was the lid switch..i have so much laundry and a kitchen full of washing machine parts of anyone has a suggestion at all.. sorry for typos i am on a phone and hate correcting a whole paragraph

If you already dismantled the washer then you have to put it back together. Just keep the front panel off. There is a signal LED on top of the motor (see the attachment). Start the washer and watch that LED. Post the results. Also check the inline fuse for continuity. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for GE WHDSR316G0WW Washer - AppliancePartsPros.comGene. P.S. There are no any resistors in the lid switch.

There is no resistor in the lid switch. The inverter board monitors the number of lid switch openings and will disable the motor if the washer goes through 2 complete wash cycles without seeing a lid opening. Check the error code LED as suggested. In order to reset the inverter, you need a working lid switch installed.
