Recently replaced motor coupling gear. Before this, the machine functioned perfectly.
Now the washer works great until the spin cycle. It will spin for 30-45 seconds and then stops completely and will not drain.
Sometimes if I turn the control back to the beginning of the cycle it will start again, but always stops once it reaches spin cycle. Sometimes the machine dies completely and I have to let it sit for a few minutes before it will do anything again.
I figured since I just replaced that coupling maybe a connection was loose somewhere. I double checked all connections and they seem okay. The connection at the motor seems a little loose, but I pressed it on as tight as it would go.
What should I check next?

It starts to spin while it is still full of water.
I replaced the motor coupling because the gear on one side was broken. I believe my roommate overloaded it and caused this gear to break, although he denies it.
The washer also leaks a pretty serious amount of water while running.

If the pump is leaking, you will see it.
Disconnect the hoses from the pump and check for a foreign objects inside.
Gene. P.S. Taking the washer apart will eliminate most of questions.
